0% Purchase Credit Cards: Are You Getting The Most For Your Money?

Credit cards are commonly used by a high percentage of the population today. They are convenient to use, easy to carry with you and offer a whole range of fantastic deals, like the 0% purchase credit cards out there for example.

These offers may be tempting, but are they all they promise to be? This is a particularly apt question when it comes to the 0% purchase credit cards on the market.

0% purchase credit cards are literally just what the name implies – the companies that provide them offer 0% interest on any purchases for the first so many months after the account is initially opened. This is not to be confused with 0% interest on balance transfers. 0% on balance transfers deals with any sum of debt transferred from another credit card, whereas 0% on purchases is literally that. Many people do get confused with the deals and may end up with something that they do not want.

0% on purchases often last for between three and six months, although some companies do offer the deal for up to twelve months. This ensures that you can buy items on the card and not pay any extra on them for the duration of the deal. However, when the deal is up, you will pay the regular interest rate on the goods if there is still a balance on the card. Of course, this only really matters if you do not pay your balance off in full every month because doing that actually prevents interest being added to your account in the first place.

0% purchase credit cards are perfect for big events such as Christmas. You can defer the cost of Christmas or a holiday without actually getting into debt. This is a major plus for a time of year that can indeed induce financial difficulties further down the line, so it may be worth thinking about!
