Car Insurance Group
Car Insurance Grouping System |

|
Obtaining car insurance is an easy enough process these days because all you need to do is head online and request quotes. However, very few of us understand how and why our quotes are quite as high or as low as they are. Much of this is a result of the existence of the car insurance group. |

The car insurance group is one of several that knit together in a classification system that insurers use in order to calculate your premiums. The make and model of the car is instrumental in determining which car insurance group that your vehicle happens to be in and thus how much you have to pay in order to be fully legal on the road every day.
|
The car insurance group is completely unbiased because it is not determined by the individual insurer. Instead, it is set by the Group Rating Panel for the individual car. They have effectively put 20 groups in place and all cars in circulation are placed in one of them. There are a further fifty that work alongside those twenty to further narrow down the level of premiums.
When you obtain a car insurance quote, the insurer will refer to the car insurance group based on the make and model. It is both of these elements that have an impact on the car insurance group based on damage costs, repair costs, new car values, the prices of parts, the security of the car and the performance of the car. As such, the cheaper the car is to repair or to replace, the lower your insurance premiums will be.
