Temporary car insurance, or short term car insurance as it is otherwise known, is not one of the products that is well publicised on the insurance market today. There are numerous reasons for this, including the relatively low level of demand, but every driver should be fully aware that it exists and is out there for them should they need it. In effect, temporary car insurance is cover that lasts for between 24 hours and 28 days and so is designed to cover a specific time frame of the driver’s choosing. This is obviously in lieu of a full insurance policy rather than running alongside one.
So temporary car insurance may sound a little pointless given the length of cover but it actually works really well for some people. It is perfect for those individuals that are taking a new car home from a garage forecourt, one that has yet to be driven. It is also perfect for drivers that borrow cars for specific periods of time. Maybe you are borrowing a friend's car or need to be placed on another vehicle's insurance policy following an accident. There are plenty of similar instances in which the above may apply.
Regardless of why you need temporary car insurance, it can prevent major expenses in your future by taking care of any damage that occurs when you are behind the wheel, no matter how short the time period in which it occurs is. An accident can happen at any time of day or night so just make sure that you have temporary car insurance in place to make sure that you are covered, not to mention legal on the road!
