Car Insurance Broker
The car insurance broker was always a staple of the car insurance industry. Offering a range of policies from various insurers, the car insurance broker was able to give everyone a choice with one visit to the office. Instead of visiting different banks and lenders, the average driver could get quotes from all of the leading providers in an hour or so. Sound familiar? If it does then it should not come as a surprise that the car insurance broker was the predecessor of the comparison site because the two effectively serve the same function.
Although the car insurance broker and the comparison site are two very different entities, they have a lot of similarities. For example, they both offer the opportunity to get a range of quotes in one specific place and thus save you time and energy. Both have access to a huge range of providers and thus can provide the best value quotes for you quickly and easily without pushing you towards a product that may not be suitable, as sales people offering only one product have a tendency to do. However, meeting with a car insurance broker may not always be convenient, whereas checking the Internet for quotes is.
The car insurance broker is not extinct though. You can still find them online and in your local town centre or high street. If you want advice on different products in relation to your needs then you will be able to find it with them whereas not all comparison sites will offer that. The best ones will have a series of articles though so assess your options before looking anywhere or taking out a policy.
The advantage of the high street broker is that you have someone to deal with face to face even though you may have an increased premium. However they do seem to be getting more aware and competitive now that the online community for insurance has expanded so much over recent years.
The best thing to do is give them a call and ask, as if you don't ask you'll never know if you could have saved money or not!
